Hola chic@s,
Feliz año nuevo.
Don’t forget the accent on the ‘ñ’ — otherwise that phrase means something else 😱
Hoy (today), I want to help you understand when to double letters in Spanish.
As always, my goal is to keep this really simple, so you can keep practicing with confidence, rather than anxiety.
Vamos.
There’s only one name I want you to remember in Spanish 👇
CAROLINA
Well…
CaRoLiNa (+E)
The capital letters are the five that can be doubled in Spanish:
C 👉 Accidente, Acceder, Acción
R 👉 Perro, Correr, Arroz
L 👉 Llave, Lleno, Maravilla
N 👉 Innovar, Innecesario, Innegable
E 👉 Leer, Creer, Poseer
This doesn’t mean they should always be doubled.
But if you’re second-guessing yourself…
If it’s not one of these five,
It can’t be doubled.
However, this is Spanish isn’t it?
There are a few exceptions 😘
Cooperar (to cooperate), Zoológico (zoo), Contraataque (counterattack), Microondas (microwave).
They’re few and far between.
So you can feel pretty comfortable relying on the beautiful CaRoLiNa (+E).
Keep going,
Keep making mistakes,
Keep speaking Spanish.
Un abrazo grande,
Harrison
